Anti-Submarine Weapons: Submarines began using torpedoes which they fired. Ships would use zig zag strategies to not get hit by the torpedoes. Ships then began to improve and had nets that would deflect any incoming torpedoes.

Rifles and Pistols: The Rifle remained the most crucial and the most used weapon during the World War 1. The Pistol is assigned to military police, airmen, tank operators and officers of all armies. The Pistol would be used usually in closed places such as a Tank or an aircraft. The Rifle wasn’t adapted to that action.

Machine Guns: A Machine Gun back in 1914 would usually require five or six men to use it. The Machine Guns would overheat though and needed cool mechanisms for it to operate correctly again. Machine Guns dominated the battlefields during World War 1. They could fire about 400 bullets with a small diameter round per minute.

Poison Gas: The Gas was first used by the French, not by Germany. The first introduction of Poison Gas was the use of Chlorine Gas. During World War 1, the Germans poured the chlorine gas on the battlefield where the French rested. The Poison Gas, when inhaled into the body, destroys the respiratory organs and that caused the victim to having a choking attack.

Bayonet: The Bayonet was used by everyone from 1914 to 1918. A Bayonet is any sharp-spiked weapon that is designed to fit in, on or underneath the muzzle of a rifle or any similar weapon.

The Dark Side of the Industrial Revolution

1. The worst working and living condition I have ever seen is the little Asian kids who have been making the Nike shoes for America. When I heard about this I was pretty angered because I believe Child Labor is cruel. Kids shouldn’t have to work until they’re out of school. I never really bought/wore Nike shoes before but the fact that they make little kids make them for our country is idiotic. I don’t think I really want to get any now until they fix their crap.

2. Dear Member of Congress,

The working conditions and living conditions of the Industrial Revolution is terrible. The amount of hours that I have to work per day is ridiculous and it annoys me. This hard labor isn’t worth the small amount of money that I’m paid. I believe that if you want to pay me and the rest of the people that work for so long so little, we shouldn’t have to work for so long. Or you could pay us more so we can actually have something to live off of. The way you treat the people and myself is horrible.

3. In the early 19th Century, Factories Acts were passed in Britain. They were supposed to help improve working conditions for the workers.

4. The Asian Kids who work on the Nike shoes is an example of bad working conditions. They spend the amount of hours that could be used for School on making products for a different Country.

Galileo: The Starry Messenger

If I were told I was unable to speak about something I know was true, I would still speak my mind. Nobody runs how I live and nobody can go against “Freedom of Speech”. I’d be shocked by the fact that someone would actually think they could command me to keep from speaking my mind. I would mainly be annoyed though. I live in a free country where I can speak my mind and I sure am not going to take any demands from anyone.

During World War 2, Hitler pretty much hypnotized the Germans due to his own hate towards the Jews. The Germans saw Hitler as a great Leader and never really had a chance to speak their mind of what they thought about the situation, they just went with what Hitler told them. The Jews were also unable to defend themselves to the Germans and Hitler who began to slaughter them and erase them from existence. If Hitler wasn’t so controlling and manipulative and filled with so much hatred towards the Jews, they could’ve probably worked something out.

Sun Tzu - The Art of War

Sun Tzu was an ancient Chinese Military General and Strategist. It was said that he was the author of the book The Art of War. The Art of War is an ancient Chinese Military treatise. It’s one of the most succesful and oldest books in the world from the Military Strategy. In each of it’s 13 chapters, there’s an individual aspect of warfare. The Art of War is still read for its military insights.

The Allies used Sun Tzu’s advice during the OPERATION OVERLORD by fooling the enemy into a different landing point, Pas de Calais, and away from their actual landing point. The Allies used this advice in order for them to make a Surprise Attack on the enemy. They would have several didn’t armies that are each on different sides. This would make it a lot easier to capture the port of Cherbourg. This would make it an easier capture and win for them.

“If your enemy is secure at all points, be prepared for him. If he is in superior strength, evade him. If your opponent is temperamental, seek to irritate him. Pretend to be weak, that he may grow arrogant. If he is taking his ease, give him no rest. If his forces are united, separate them. If sovereign and subject are in accord, put division between them. Attack him where he is unprepared, appear where you are not expected.” - Sun Tzu

This can help you in business because it’s better for you to understand your opponent before you just immediately try to attack. If you pretend to be weak, your opponent will most likely be arrogant and go after you with full strength. Then you can analyze their moves and or strength. You pretty will have to outsmart your opponent in every way possible.

Confucius Quotes

“Is it not delightful to have friends coming from distant quarters?” -Asking whether or not it is exciting or if you’re not greatful for having a friend coming from far away. Or family who lives far away. You should be excited to see them.

“Not so. He who offends against Heaven has none to whom he can pray.” -If you were to commit a crime or to sin against something, they’re saying that you will have nobody that is good to pray to.

“High station filled without indulgent generosity; ceremonies performed without reverence; mourning conducted without sorrow;-wherewith should I contemplate such ways?” - Living a life with no emotions: “mourning conducted without sorrow” You’re crying over a loved one but you don’t truly care.

“Virtue is not left to stand alone. He who practices it will have neighbors.” - If you learn to give respect then you will earn friends(neighbors).

“I should like, having chariots and horses, and light fur clothes, to share them with my friends, and though they should spoil them, I would not be displeased.”  - You appreciate your friends more so than any new piece of cloth that if they ruin it, you wouldn’t be mad at them.

“To lead an uninstructed people to war, is to throw them away.” - If you let people go into war with no skill you’re pretty much letting them die (throwing them away).

“The superior man dislikes the thought of his name not being mentioned after his death.” - A man who is superior (such as king, president) would be mad if his death was not announced for everyone to know.

Michael Jackson's Doctor Guilty of Manslaughter

As of November 7, 2011, Michael Jackson’s Personal Doctor has been found guilty of manslaughter. Michael Jackson was found dead in a hotel on June 25, 2009. His doctor had admitted that he gave Jackson a small dose of propofol so it would help him go to sleep. Others said that Jackson might’ve taken more than that small dose his Doctor gave him. Dr. Murray’s, Jackson’s Doctor, sentencing will be announced on November 29 of 2011 and may be released after only months of imprisonment due to jail overcrowding. After being found guilty, I wouldn’t want Dr. Murray walking the streets. Especially after the death of the King of Pop.

Dr. Murray had pleaded not guilty in the trial of Michael Jackson’s death. He was accused of giving Michael Jackson a fatal dose of propofol, something usually used in surgery. The propofol was said to be the cause of Michael’s death at age 50. Dr. Murray said that he had only given Michael Jackson a small dose of the propofol to help Jackson get to sleep. Many others thought otherwise though. Some thought that the small dose could’ve been a fatal dose that Jackson took.

Starting on November 29th, Dr. Murray will be behind bars for four years. He has been in custody with no bail for up until November 29th. After two years of the mysterious death of MIchael Jackson, Conrad Murray has been found guilty of the sudden death of the King of Pop.

Earthquake in Turkey

On October 23rd, 2011 a 7.3 magnitude Earthquake struck in Turkey. It was assumed that 1000 people were dead for the first few days but they made discoveries of many people. A two week old baby was found about 47 hours after the Earthquake, buried underneath a buildings rubble and soon after, the Baby’s Mother and Grandmother were found and were rushed to the hospital. They claimed that they were still searching for the Father of the child. There was believed to be about 20 people in the same wreckage as the Father.

They said that the Earthquake that struck Turkey had caused nearly 2,300 buildings to collapse. There was another family, containing 2 children and a woman who had been trapped in the same debris as the two week old child. A man had also been found after calling for help after being buried and suffering a leg injury. The Earthquake, after 2 days, had killed 366 people and left 1,301 people injured.

The Earthquake of Turkey had caused 80 multi-story building to collapse and atleast 40 of those peoples had contained people in them. As the tragedy from the Earthquake still continues, the death toll had rose to 570, over 1,000 still injured and some still lost.

Fear.

I believe this word affects 9/11 because of all the fear that must have been going through everyones minds that were in the tower during this tragedy. The man in this video is also a perfect example of this word. He was a bit harsh with his words but he was also a man dying from lack of oxygen so I wasn’t shocked by his words to the woman. As the towers fell, you could hear the fear in his voice and how he must have dropped the phone because of how his voice was getting more distant before his voice was cut off completely.

R.I.P Kevin Michael Cosgrove.
